I haven't used it, but perhaps one of the patches at http://cronolog.org/patches/ might be useful.


http://cronolog.org/patches/cronolog-setugid-patch.txt appears to have --set-uid and --set-gid switches that you could set to "nobody" as does the jumbo patch which includes other useful patches: http://cronolog.org/patches/cronolog-jumbo-patch.txt
